Maurice James Starling

Mr. Maurice James Starling age 76 of Sautee Nacoochee passed away Friday February 6, 2009 at Chestatee Regional Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Starling was born in Tampa Florida the son of the late Paul James and Mildred Emily Borders Starling. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Paul Starling. Mr. Starling was a Veteran of the Unites States Marine Corp serving in the Korean War and Vietnam as a Master Gunnery. He served his country for 28 years and was a Drill Instructor, Recruiter and in Aviation Supply. After his military service he became a Georgia State Park Ranger serving for 10 years. He was of the Protestant Faith and a member of Friends of Unicoi and the White County Honor Guard. Survivors include his wife, Georgia Ann Harding Starling, Sautee Nacoochee; son and daughter in law, Joe and Keri Allen, Panama City, FL.; daughter, Joy Marie Starling, Orlando, FL; step son, Rodney Lee Starling, Dawsonville and daughter in law, Susan Starling, Buford; step son and daughter in law, Clay Leon and Tiffany Starling, Buford; sister and brother in law, Joann Beatrice and Vernon Solomon, Orlando, FL; brother and sister in law, Fred Richard and Shirley Starling, Ellijay; grandchildren, Summer Joy Dupler, Conner Robert Dupler, both of Beverly Hills, FL., Robert Lee Starling, James Mitchell Starling, Rachael Elizabeth Starling, all of Dawsonville. Ashley Brooke Taylor, Joshua Adam Barin Taylor, Hannah Storme Taylor, all of Buford. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday February 10, 2009 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Jimmy Driskell and the Rev. Dave Fortner will officiate. Burial will follow in Yonah View Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors by the White County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 12-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
