Melton Lavern Gibby

Melton Lavern Gibby, age 83 of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, March 02, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Gibby was born June 1, 1929 in Greenville, SC to the late Calloway and Hazel Addis Gibby. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. He attended Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church. Mr. Gibby was retired from Johnson and Johnson Manufacturing and was the Co-Owner of M.L. Gibby Auto Sales, Inc. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dortha Lovell Gibby and sister, Betty Hanson. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Yvonne Gibby, Cleveland; Melton and Shirley Gibby, Cornelia; grandchildren, Charity Jones, Heath Williams, Jonathan Gibby, Matthew Welborn, Ashley Gibby; 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday, March 4, 2013 at Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church. The Rev. Paul Flynn and the Rev. Dennis Taylor will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
