Merl C. Cloonan, 93, went to be with his Lord on September 5th, 2015.
Mert was born in Detroit, Ml on April 11, 1922 to Esley and Beatrice
Cloonan. Merl served in WWll for 4 years as a communications officer
respectfully obtaining the rank of CW04. He then served 38 years in the Marine Reserves until his retirement in 1982. He also retired from
AT&T (formally Michigan Bell) as an Executive in 1982.
Merl was married to Aldora May Loucks in 1961 in Royal Oak, Ml. She
was also an executive at Michigan Bell.They enjoyed golf and dancing.
They routinely travelled to Florida to invest in properties and eventually took up residence permanently in Bradenton, FL until Ann's death in 20O7. He then moved to Cleveland, GA in Nov. of 2007 with his stepson,Stephen Loucks.
Merl died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving son, Stephen Loucks, daughter-in-law Koleen Loucks, Grandson Jason Loucks,
Granddaughter Heather Loucks-O'Meara, Great Grandson Jason Todd
Loucks & good friend Della Kelly. Merl is survived by his Step-Children Yale Loucks & Penny Vignolles of Florida, Stephen Loucks of Georgia and Terrance Loucks of Michigan, his sister June Miegs (Art) of California and Beatrice (Burt) Bertolini of Michigan & Greatgrandaughter, Mahryah Block of Montana and numerous Grandchildren, Great -Grandchildren nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Aldora; parents, Esley and Beatrice; and brother, Esley "Bud" Cloonan.
