Mitchell Wayne Dorsey

Mitchell Wayne Dorsey, age 58 of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Dorsey was born December 21, 1952 in White County to the late Frank and Pauline Stover Dorsey. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Rev. Charles Allison. Mr. Dorsey was a Veteran of the United States Navy voluntarily at the age of 17. He volunteered for duty in Vietnam. He was a totally disabled Veteran. Mr. Dorsey was a member of Roy Head Post 16 of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Dorsey was a retried Captain from the Lee Arrendale State Prison receiving commendations and awards. He attended Community Chapel Interdenominational Church. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Nancy Sue Dorsey, Cleveland; daughter, Susan Dorsey, Cleveland; son, Jason Dorsey, Cleveland; grandchildren, Zack Sosebee, Madison Sosebee, both of Cleveland; Logan Dorsey, Stuart, FL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Sue Dorsey; Melvin and Jimmie Ree Dorsey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Tim Puckett; Patti and Toy Reed, all of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday, May 6, 2011 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Taylor and the Rev. Jimmy Sargent will officiate. Interment will follow in Mossy Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
