Monte Joe Black age 55 of Helen passed away Sunday September 30, 2007 at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Black was born in Habersham County and lived in White County all of his life. He was President and CEO of Charles Black Construction Company, a member of the City of Helen Planning Commission and graduate of Brenau College. Mr. Black played in several bands including the Jester’s and the David Aaron Band. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Black, Helen; step son, Adam Martin, Alamo, CA.; parents, Charles and Dot Black, Cleveland; sister, Lynda Lunsford, Cleveland; brother and sister in law, Bud and Margie Black, Cleveland. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday October 3, 2007 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Bobby Taylor and the Rev. Dennis Turner will officiate. Entombment will be in Yonah View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
