MICHAEL J. MALTBY MUSICIAN Mr. Michael J. Maltby, of Helen, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2008 following a short illness. He was 62. Mr. Maltby was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on May 20, 1946 the son of the late Josephine and Scoot Maltby. He served in the United States Air Force Band during the Vietnam War and was a nationally known Blues/Jazz Saxaphonist. His musical career included playing with Joe Moreno, Les Paul, The People, Jim Schwall, Blue Period, Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, and many more. Mr. Maltby was also very involved with Vintage Sports Car Racing, served as Past Worthy Chaplain in the Eagles, and started a non-profit organization to take kids with life threatening diseases to the races. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Nancy Maltby, Helen; brothers, Pat Maltby, Joseph Maltby, both of Green Bay, Wisconsin; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, many nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends. Mr. Maltby’s wishes were to be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
