Opal Doris Burke

Mrs. Opal Doris Burke, age 77, of Helen, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Habersham County Medical Center. Mrs. Burke was born In White County the daughter of the late Orvil and Laura Allen Tatum. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Burke, sister, Bernice Wheeler and brother, Junior Tatum. Mrs. Burke was a member of Center Baptist Church. Although she was unable to attend church for the past four years, her home was a safe haven and her kitchen counter became an altar where one could find hope, encouragement, and some good old-fashioned honest advice. She will be missed by all. Survivors include her sisters, Leona Palmer, Gainesville, Mary Lou Fain, Clarkesville; brothers, Charles Tatum, Turnerville, Wayne Tatum, Demorest. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Sunday November 16, 2014 at Center Baptist Church. The Rev. Michael Wilkes, the Rev. Hoyt Winkler and Mr. Tommy Martin will officiate.
