Peggy Ann Abernathy

Mrs. Peggy Ann Abernathy, age 86, of Cleveland, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. Mrs. Abernathy was born on May 9, 1937, in Cleveland, Georgia to the late Harvel and Faye Stancil Crumley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Jean Brookshire; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Joe Cantrell; brothers and sisters in-law, Laverne and Lavaughn Crumley, Virgil and Lois Crumley, JK Crumley, Cecil and Juanita Crumley, Riley and Wanda Crumley, Harold and Louise Crumley; and brothers-in-law, Larry Payne, Bobby Black, Doug Allen, and Gale Abernathy. Mrs. Abernathy is survived by her husband of 40 years, Phil Abernathy of Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sherry Rogers of Cleveland; step-daughter and son-in-law, Dana and David Kinnunen of Gainesville; grandchildren, Dusty and Kim Rogers of Cleveland, Bethann and Paul Fain of Cleveland, Kelsea Bentley of Prospect, IL, Carson and Brooke Bentley of Gillsville, Devin Kinnunen, and Hayden Kinnunen of Gainesville; great-grandchildren, Emma Rogers, Owen Rogers, Hazel Fain, and Mabel Fain of Cleveland, Lainey Bentley and Lauren Bentley of Gillsville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janelle and Clifton Amos, Mildred and Glenn Rider; sisters, Josephine Payne and Janette Allen; brother-in-law, Jimmy Brookshire; sisters-in-law, Jane Crumley and Carol Abernathy; among other relatives. The family is especially thankful for the wonderful care provided by Laurel Lodge Assisted Living Home Nurses and Staff. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 18, 2023, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. J Grantham and Pastor Dusty Rogers will officiate. Interment will follow in Mossy Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
