Peter Gailen Bayliff

Peter G. Bayliff, age 63 of Helen, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017.   Pete was born May 24, 1954 in Ferndale, MI. Pete was known by many as “The Rock Man”, he created his business over 40 years ago. He moved his business to Helen, GA in 1996, selling gems and minerals to the public. He later expanded the business to include the Chattahoochee Gem-Mining Company. The “Rock Shop” has become an icon to Helen’s tourist industry. Pete always gave God’s Son Jesus Christ the glory for his success.   Pete loved to make people smile. He fascinated both adults and children with his magic tricks. He was a self-taught locksmith having helped many locals when they were locked out of their homes and cars. Pete especially enjoyed meeting customers who remembered him from visiting the Rock Shop as a young child.   Survivors include his son, Robert Bayliff, Helen; fiancé, Nancy Boswell, Helen; brother, Dale Bayliff.   A private graveside service was held at Yonah View Memorial Gardens.   In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Pete’s favorite charity, The Covenant House Times Square Station, PO Box 731 New York, NY 10108-0900.   Online condolences can be made to the family at barrettfh.com   Barrett Funeral Home, Cleveland.
