Phillip Pruitt of Shoal Creek, Cleveland, Georgia passed away at home on Monday, January 10, 2011 at midnight with his loving family beside him.
He was a graduate of WCHS in 1977 and attended Gainesville Jr. College. A motorcycle enthusiast from childhood, he begun riding motorcross and raced until he was 21 years old, sporting many trophies for winning. He worked for Pierce Wholesale, Ferrell Gas, and was self employed for many years. He became unable to work in 2001 due to many health problems.
He was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, the Green Team provided nursing and physician service in Mr. Pruitt’s home.
His favorite quote to live by was “The will of God won’t take you where the grace of God won’t carry you”.
He was preceded in death by his brother Ricky Pruitt and a daughter Amy Hardegree.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Chapman Pruitt; parents, Russell and Neva Pruitt; step-daughter, Caron Anderson of Dawsonville and 2 grandchildren, Grant and Morgan Anderson also of Dawsonville.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Friday, January 14, 2011 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Hefner and the Rev. Jerry Abercrombie will officiate. Interment will follow in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 & 7-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
