Mr. Ralph Whisenant, Brown, age 88 of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2007 at the Friendship Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Born in White County, Georgia on February 10, 1919, he was the son of the late Jason and Lillie Whisenant Brown. Mr. Brown retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and was a member of the Shoal Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold “Blue” Brown, Garland Brown, sisters, Lillian Ferguson, Johnnie Mae Palmer, Pauline West, Lois Brown, and Hazel Brown.
Survivors include his wife 68 years, Mrs. Christine Ferguson Brown, Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Charles Collins, sons and daughter-in-laws, Marvin and Margie Brown, Gene and Ginger Brown, Ricky and Trish Brown, all of Cleveland; Randall and Amy Brown, Pendergrass; brother and sister-in-law, Howard “Curley” and Louise Brown, Cleveland; grandchildren, Stacie and Kent Ward, Tim and Lydia Brown, Tom and Connie Brown, Bobby and Chanda Collins, Karen and Michael Hawkins, Scott and Sandra Collins, Jennifer and Cory Wagoner, all of Cleveland; Kim and Paul Dees, Vidalia; Melissa Brown, Pendergrass; Bobby Atkinson, Douglas; Dustin Atkinson, Hazelhurst; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe Vernon and the Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
