Rebecca Mathena Fiero, a resident of Helen since 1981, died 17 July 2010 at New Horizons in Gainesville, GA after a prolonged illness. She was 66. A 1969 graduate of the University of Florida, she was a journalist, secondary school teacher and businesswoman. Married in 1972, she was the mother of two sons. Moving to Helen in 1981, she was a partner in Two Crafty Guys and later Becky’s Small Wonders. Throughout her life she was active in civic affairs. She was a member of Helen Presbyterian Church and its Choir. She is survived by her husband, Pete Fiero, Helen; sons Tony Fiero, Demorest; Andy Fiero, Irving, TX, three grandchildren, Landin, London, and Morgan; brother, Paul Mathena, Helen; sisters Dottie Azar and Betsy Mathena both of Florida; niece Kathy Ragland, Statesboro. Cremation followed by a private family only memorial. The family plans a memorial for friends at a future date. Online condolences may be made to the family at barrettfh.com.
