Rev. Allen Ross Palmer

Rev. Allen Ross Palmer, age 93 of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Habersham Home. Rev. Palmer was born on June 8, 1922, in Cleveland, GA, to the late Marlin and Jessie Freeman Palmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Sims Palmer; daughter and son-in-law, Velma and Clyde Turner, Jr.; sisters, Blanche Thurmond and Lucille Turner; brothers, Lee Palmer and Guy Palmer. Rev. Palmer was the assistant secretary and treasurer of the North Georgia C.H. Church District Presbytery and was also the first assistant to the superintendent for several years. He served on the campground committee and preached at almost every church in the North Georgia C.H. District. Rev. Palmer pastored several churches and helped construct Mt. Sinai Church in Banks County. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the war. Rev. Palmer owned A.R. Palmer Construction Company and was a member of Cleveland Worship Center. He was a beloved father of daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Edward Hood, Cleveland, Regina and Harlan Martin, Hartwell, Kathy and Mark Sittig, Tallahassee, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Patty Palmer, Cleveland; grandchildren, Karen Mote, Edrick Hood, Alan Martin, Travis Turner, Kela Buchanan, Shane Palmer, Marc Turner, Stacy Palmer, Amanda Hanic, and Lyndsey Sullivan; 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday March 30, 2016 at the Cleveland Worship Center. The Rev. Marc Turner and the Rev. Edward Hood will officiate. Interment will follow at Yonah View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
