Rev Billy Joe Jenkins Sr, age 82 of Sautee Nacoochee, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.   Mr. Jenkins was born on February 7, 1935, in Cleveland, Georgia to the late William Leonard and Lessie Mae Dorsey Jenkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Helen Haywood; brother, Alfonzo Jenkins; sister, Mary Sue Mull. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty Dorsey Jenkins; sons and daughters-in-laws, Timmy and Debbie Jenkins, Rev Billy Jr. and Rev Cynseria Jenkins, and Rev James and Kerrie Jenkins; adopted daughters, Sabrina Dorsey and Patricia Allen; brother, Rev Jesse Jenkins; sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Phineas “Snap” Sutton; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; sisters-in-law, Joyce Dorsey and Charlotte Dorsey, brother-in-law Jimmy Dorsey. Joe Louis (Betty) Dorsey; uncle, Matthew Trammell; nieces and nephews and lifelong friends, Pastor Roger and Shirley Stephens and James (Jimmy) and Bertha Martin.   Mr. Jenkins’ first love was preaching and teaching the word of God. He was ordained at Bean Creek Baptist Church on July 23, 1973 and was a son of Bean Creek Baptist Church. He also helped to remodel Bean Creek Baptist Church. After his ordination, Billy Joe pastored at St. John Baptist Church, Cleveland, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Andrews, N.C. for 18 years, Bethlehem Baptist, Franklin, N.C. (interim for 1 year), and Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Hollywood, Georgia for 22 years. In addition to that his secular jobs included Oak Flooring in Cleveland, Georgia, being the owner of Jenkins Auto Sales and Service, and White County School System from which he retired after 25 years. Mr. Jenkins hobbies included fishing, hunting, working on cars, and note singing   Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 4, 2018 at St. John’s Baptist Church. Pastor Roger Stephens, Pastor Oliver Dorsey, Pastor Floyd Means, Pastor John Paul Webb, and Pastor Bryan Sutton will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Yonah Cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
