Richard Lee Pickering

Mr. Richard Lee Pickering, age 71 of Sautee-Nacoochee passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009 following an extended illness. Mr. Pickering was born on July 21, 1937 in Lebanon, Ohio to the late Charles E. and Rosalie Bennington Pickering. Mr. Pickering was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the US Navy. He had lived in White County since 1990 and was a computer technician. Mr. Pickering was a member of Mt Yonah Baptist Church. Survivors include: his wife: Dorothea (Netta) Thompson Pickering, Sautee-Nacoochee; son and daughter in law: Richard S. and Laura Pickering, Glen Allen, VA; daughter and son in law: Beryl and Donald Benton, Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren: Samantha Pickering, Jennifer Pickering and Austin Pickering all of Glen Allen, VA; sister in law: Jessica Dowling, Jacksonville, FL; brother in law Allan Thompson, Jacksonville, FL and several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2009 at Mt Yonah Baptist Church with the Rev. John Yarbrough and the Rev. Doug Merck officiating. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
