Richard Odell Smith

July 15, 1932 — October 6, 2022

Richard Odell Smith, age 90, of Sautee, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 6, 2022, with his family by his side. Mr. Smith was born on July 15, 1932, in Clarke County, Georgia, to the late Paul and Donia Rumsey Smith. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving two tours in Korea, and a member and deacon of Chattahoochee Baptist Church. Richard lived a full, long life, where he enjoyed traveling and photography. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Smith; sister, Agnes Holtzclaw; great-grandchild, Bailey Smith. Survivors include his wife of 68 ½ years, Lanette Smith, Sautee; son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Vickie Smith, Sautee; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Billy Mullins, Cleveland; grandchildren, Jessica and Dave Spohn, Cody Smith, Claire and Sara Myli, Jason Heckart, Jamie and Julian Mazzoccoli, Jacob and Jenna Heckart, and Josh Adams; great-grandchildren, Hayden Freeman, Harper Smith, Caitlin Mazzoccoli, Emma Heckart, and Easton Heckart. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Chattahoochee Baptist Church. The Rev. Chris Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in VFW Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service.
