Robert Oscar Smith

Robert Oscar Smith, age 69, of Dawsonville, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022. Mr. Smith was born on November 22, 1952, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late James and Lillian Smith. He was the founder and owner of R.O. Smith & Sons Welding and a member of the United States Coast Guard. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, John Smith and Roy Smith. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marlena Tinker Smith; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmi and Kim Smith, and Adam and Kimberly Smith; son, Robert Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and David Oehrlein; brothers, Preston Smith and Fred Smith; sister, Mary Payne; grandchildren, Heather Smith Francis, Noah Smith, Cooper Smith, Aubree Smith, Addie Oehrlein, Malena Smith, Oliver Oehrlein, and Hayes Smith. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 17, 2022, at Magnolia Cemetery in Apalachicola, Florida. The Rev. Michael Walhquist will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Friday, October 14, 2022, at Bearden Funeral Home in Dawsonville, Georgia. A service will follow at 6:00 P.M. in the chapel at Bearden Funeral Home. The Rev. Andy Wallace will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the Robert O.
