Roger Allen Bahre

July 20, 1941 — April 13, 2007

Mr. Roger Allen Bahre, age 65 of Sautee-Nacoochee, formerly of Atlanta and Mobile, Alabama, passed away suddenly this week at his residence. Born in Euclid Ohio on July 20, 1941, he was the son of the late Henry and Helen Saint Bahre. Mr. Bahre served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was a graduate of Ft. Meyers High School and the University of Florida. He was a loyal Gators fan. Mr. Bahre started his career at WSAV TV in Savannah, Ga, then moved to KNOX radio in Knoxville TN. Later, he moved to WALA in Mobile, Alabama where he became News Director and Anchor, then to WFAA TV in Dallas TX, WPLG in Miami,FL and also was a News Producer at WVUE in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mr. Bahre retired after 20 years of serving as Senior Producer and one of the original creators of CNN Headline News in Atlanta and then as Executive Producer for 4 years at WKRG TV in Mobile, Alabama. He was a very active member of the Nacoochee United Methodist Church and was a loving husband, father, and absolutely adored his four grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Sharon Dixon Bahre of Sautee-Nachoochee, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Julie Bahre Carroll and Brandon Carroll of Springfield, Missouri; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Jacque Bahre of Cleveland, GA; sister, Nancy Bahre of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Ashley and Brooke Carroll, both of Springfield, Missouri; Jacob and Isaac Bahre, both of Cleveland GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Anita Dixon, sister-in-law, Ann Muths, mother-in-law, Audrey Dixon, all of Mobile, AL and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Bahre’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service celebrating his life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Nacoochee United Methodist Church. The Rev. Lyndon Eubanks will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the Nacoochee United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations are being made to the Nacoochee United Methodist Church Building Fund.
