Mr. Royal Edward “Ed” Lewis, age 84 of the Shoal Creek Community, Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville following an extended illness.
Born in White County, Georgia on July 25, 1922, Mr. Lewis was a life-long native of White County and was the son of the late Benny and Georgia Montana Nix Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a U.S. Army veteran having served in WWII and farmed for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Mae Christy Lewis, daughter, Caroline Lewis, brothers, Calvin, Clarence, and Junior Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a member of the Shoal Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-laws, Bill and Margie Lewis, Don and Michelle Lewis, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Lisa and Eric Salzman, Kayla and Tony Hogan, Kristopher and Shanta Lewis, all of Cleveland; sister and brother-in-law, Lura Mae and G.L. Adams, Cleveland and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12 Noon on Saturday, April 14, 2007 from the Shoal Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Heffner and the Rev. Chris Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
