Ruby Shelnut Gilleland

Mrs. Ruby Shelnut Gilleland, age 80 of Cleveland passed away at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Gilleland was born in White County on December 13, 1927 to the late Claud Coleman and Carrie Pruitt Shelnut. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Gilleland. She was a cook in the White County Schools and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Gilleland attended Cleveland Worship Center. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law: Elizabeth & Jerry Shuler, Cleveland, Reverta & Michael Allen, Cleveland, LaVenia & Nick Clark, Gainesville, sons and daughters-in-law: Claud & Dianne Gilleland, Cleveland; Leon & Linda Gilleland, Cleveland; brother & sister-in-law: Frank & Ruth Shelnut, Cleveland; sister-in-law: Mary Gilstrap; sister-in-law and brother-law: Margaret & Floyd Thomas; grandchildren: Jeremy Shuler, LaVaughn & Diane Gilleland, Michelle & Curtis Sosebee, Tommy & Tasha Allen; Casey & Charles Caudell, Matthew & Angie Gilleland, Ryan Gilleland, J.J. Gilleland, Caleb Gilleland and Jessie Clark; 9 great grandchildren; special friend, Grace Pruitt. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 10, 2008 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Dover, Rev. Dave Fortner and Rev. Ross Palmer officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will received friends from 6 to 9 pm on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
