Ruby "Maxine" Mckinney

Ruby “Maxine” McKinney of Thomaston, Ga, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. A Celebration of Her Life will be arranged at a later date. Born on August 26, 1930, in Upson County, Georgia to Ally Beatrice Deloach and Robert Lewis Elliott. After her marriage to Frank McKinney on January 25, 1946, they moved to Atlanta, GA. where they began a family. Maxine was a hard worker in and out of the home. She had a strong work ethic She carried those skills into motherhood raising a family and later into her career in the business world as owner of Wig Villa, Atlanta, GA. She also was Lead Waitress at Yohannan’s of Lenox Square in 1960’s (which was an upscaled restaurant). She was preceded in death by her parents Ally and Robert Elliott, her devoted husband, Franklin Bennett McKinney (WWII Combat Veteran), two precious sons Robert Franklin & Ronald Gary who joined the angels at birth, and her beloved brother, Jimmy Elliott. Survivors include: 2 Children, Sandra Ledbetter (husband Marvin), of Winder, GA., Sharon Windsor (husband Joseph), of Sautee Nacoochee, Ga.; 2 Grandchildren, Amanda Mosteller Smith (husband Jarrad), Monroe, GA, Michael Steven Mosteller (wife Karen), Marietta, GA, 6 great-grand children: Elisabeth, Alana, and Rebekah Mosteller, Dexter, Trevor, and Vivian Smith. Nephew Jimmy Elliott, Jr. (wife Lynn). Maxine was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was devoted to her family, and dearly loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader, great cook, and loved visiting antique shops. She was nurturing, kind, gracious and humble, never wanting to be in the spotlight. A true Southern Lady.
