Rufus Howard Skelton

Mr. Rufus Howard Skelton, age 78 of Cleveland died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Skelton was born on April 5, 1929 in White County, Georgia to the late Howard and Neola Bentley Skelton. He worked in the textile and lumber business for many years. Mr. Skelton was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of VFW #4346 of Toccoa. He was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Johnnie Mae Skelton and second wife, Dorothy Skelton and a son, Dennis Rufus Skelton. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law: Ronnie & Madge Skelton, Cleveland; step daughter: Betty Hood, Clermont; daughter in law: Cheris Skelton, Gainesville; brothers and sister-in-laws: Thomas and Mary Lou Skelton, Cleveland; and Raymond and Louise Skelton, Cleveland; sister: Melvina Hill, Toccoa; grandson: Jason Skelton, Baldwin; grandsons and granddaughter-in-laws: Mathew and Kristen Skelton, Gainesville; Andrew & Dawn Skelton, Gainesville; granddaughter Mendy Skelton, Cornelia, and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August, 16, 2007 from the chapel of Barrett Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Flynn officiating. Burial will follow in Chattahoochee Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-9 on Wednesday.
