Mr. Russell Freeman Vaughan age 83 of Cleveland passed away Thursday November 25, 2010 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Vaughan was born February 15, 1927 in Forsyth County to the late Loyt J. Vaughan and Pearl E. Freeman Vaughan. He was a 1944 graduate of Chestatee High School in Forsyth County and was a retired truck driver. Mr. Vaughan was a veteran of the U.S. Army Rangers having served in the 42nd Division during World War 11. He was preceded in death by his son, Loyt J. Vaughan and late wife, Karen Vaughan. Mr. Vaughan was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Vaughan, Cleveland; son, Tony Vaughan, Fort McCoy, FL; sons and daughters in law, Lawrence and Shirley Vaughan, Tim and Robin Vaughan, daughter, Shannon Moran, all of Gainesville; step sons, James Allen, Gainesville; step daughters and son in law, Wanda and Marvin King, Cleveland; Vanessa and Rob; 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday November 26, 2010 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Turk and the Rev. Ronnie Dockery will officiate. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to the family at barrettfh.com.
