Samuel "Sammy" Long

Samuel Long, age 59, of Cleveland, passed away Friday, July 17, 2020. Mr. Long was born to the late Samuel Ogden Long Sr. and Margaret Doster. He served his country in the US Navy and worked for the White County Recreation Department. His passion was youth sports. He dedicated 12 years to Cherokee County Recreation Department from which he retired. He joined Georgia Football Officials Association in 1998. Sammy was an official for three high school football state championships and was President of GFOA in 2013. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lindsey Long; granddaughters, Maggie Long and Parker Koher; and grandson, Max Long. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
