Sandra Mays Ulrey, 81, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 24, 2025 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Sandy was born March 20, 1944 in Henderson, Kentucky, as the daughter of Basil and Vonnie Mays. Her youth years were spent growing up in Kentucky, Ohio and Florida. After graduating from Oviedo High School in Oviedo, Florida in 1962, she started employment with the Citizens Bank of Oviedo. Sandy married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Ulrey, on May 23, 1965 at the First Baptist Church of Oviedo. Sandy was a devoted wife of fifty-four years, a beloved mother to three children, and grandmother to four grandchildren. Sandy dedicated her life to serving her family and the church. As a mother, she often volunteered at her children's schools and was always waiting for them to return home at the end of each school day. She played an active role in her church, including singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, leading Vacation Bible School, serving in home-bound ministries, and teaching at faith-based preschool programs. As a follower of Christ, Sandy had a passion for supporting missions and sharing the gospel. Sandy loved to travel, taking her children to different destinations as graduation gifts. She held in her heart more than a few special locations along the Blue Ridge Parkway. She held a strong, patriotic love of country and enjoyed reminiscing of earlier years spent as a spouse in the United States Marine Corps. Sandy was a talented artist with a special gift for oil painting and loved to arrange bouquets of wildflowers. Sandra is predeceased by her parents, sister, Janice Mays Kasell, and husband, Jerry. She is survived by her three children, Teresa Nichols (Brian), Amy Frutiger (Kevin), Nathan Ulrey (Sally); and by her four grandchildren, AJ Nichols, Lainey-Grace Frutiger, and Remnant and Jubilee Ulrey. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Oviedo Methodist Cemetery in Oviedo, Florida on June 7, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Sandy's honor to one of her favorite missions organizations, Lottie Moon or Annie Armstrong:
