Sandra Diane Ward

February 12, 1948 — May 17, 2025

Mrs. Sandra Diane Ward, age 77, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025. Mrs. Ward was born to the late Guy and Lera Hooper Black. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Phillip “Goob” Ward; brother, Danny Black, and grandmother, Eva Black. Mrs. Ward was a retired teacher for the White County School System, spending 40 years in education with White County and Mountain Education. She attended the Cleveland Worship Center and was a prayer warrior, who loved her Lord. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Melissa Ward, Ila; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Robbie Haynes, Cleveland; grandbabies, Madison and Kaleb Crane, J. Ben Haynes, and Matthew Ward; sisters, Karen Spence and Vickie Kesler; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Maggie Black; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Sometimes it takes a village…and a village is just what it took to get Sandra (Mama) where she needed to go: her brother, Mike; her special friends, Vera and Daniel Howard; and her niece, Delia Kesler all went the extra mile to take care of her. We are forever grateful for you and love you all deeply! Funeral services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Thursday, May 22, 2025 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. Rev. Marc Turner, Rev. Brad Hendrix, and Rev. Jimmy Spence will officiate. Interment will follow in Gateway Memory Park. The family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the funeral home.
