Sara Elizabeth Sills

Mrs. Sara Elizabeth Lance Sills age 83 died Wednesday March 21, 2007 at Limestone Heritage following an extended illness. Mrs. Sills was born in Macon Georgia in 1923 the daughter of the late E.W. and Alma Lance and moved to Atlanta at age 4 with her family. She attended the Atlanta City Schools, including, Atlanta Girls High, then attended University of Georgia Junior College where she was an Alpha Delta Delta member and graduated from UGA earning an A.B. degree in English. After that she attended Draughon Business School and began working for the Georgia Department of Human Resources. Mrs. Sills held various positions throughout her 34 year career beginning as a secretary promoted to Counselor’s aide, then a Counselor. During a revival at Gordon Baptist Church she gave her life to Jesus Christ at the age of nine. Music was one of her favorite hobbies and at age 16, she began playing the piano for Sunday School, church, and other church functions until age 70. Mrs. Sills was a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church. She was also a cat lover and is remembered by her sweet kitty cat, Nicki. Survivors include her step daughter & husband, Geraldine & David Adams, Nashville, TN; step grandsons & wives, Lee & Deena Adams, Nashville, TN., Lane & Tammi Adams, Orlando, FL; step great grandchildren, Emilie, Bret, Ryan, Will and Kate. Many loving cousins also survive, especially Phil & Paula Lowther & Melody Lowther. In addition her faithful caregiver, Paul Santucci and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Rev. John Clyde Sills. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Friday March 23, 2007 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. Dr, Robert Massey will officiate with graveside services at 2:30 P.M. Friday at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. The family will receive friends 11-12 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
