Mrs. Sarah Lou Adams Baker age 83, of Cleveland passed away Wednesday July 25, 2012 at Gateway Health and Rehab following an extended illness. A native and lifetime resident of White County, Mrs. Baker was a charter member of Mt. Yonah Baptist Church where she was very active in Church activities. Mrs. Baker was also active in the Eastern Star where she held various offices and was a member of the Optimist Club. Mrs. Baker was the widow of longtime White County Sheriff Frank L. Baker Sr. and assisted in day to day activities of the Sheriff’s Office. She was appointed Sheriff of White County for an interim period after the death of Sheriff Baker. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Baker Sr., parents, Linton H. and Sallie Mae Thurmond Adams great grandson, Samuel Chase Ethridge, sisters and brothers in law, Ina and Bill Marks, Eileen and Paul Tate, sisters, Mary Ruth Craig and Francis Allen, brothers, Roy Adams, Herbert Adams, J.C. Adams, L.G. Adams, brother in law, Lee Moss and J.W. Hopkins. Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Frank L. Baker Jr. and Donna Baker; grandchildren, Renata and Jim Ethridge, Trey and Stephanie Baker; great grandchildren, Frank L. Baker IV., Emily Baker, Brett Baker, Jake Ethridge, Katie Ethridge, brothers in law and sisters in law, Buford and Roberta Baker, Corbett and Evelyn Baker, sisters in law, Fannie M. Baker, Lula Bell Moss, Ellen Gunells, Francis Adams and Betty Adams, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday July 27, 2012 at Mt. Yonah Baptist Church. The Rev. Doug Merck, Dr. John Yarbrough and Dr. James Harper will officiate. Interment will be in Gateway Memory Park. The family will receive friends 3-5 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
