Sybil Lois Abernathy Biggers, age 89, of Cleveland, entered into the presence of the Lord Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

She was born in Robertstown to Ned Abernathy and Carrie Addis Abernathy on January 7, 1937, and was raised on the Chattahoochee River as the only daughter in a family of five brothers. She graduated with honor from Nacoochee High School in 1954. She came to faith in Christ as a teenager and dedicated herself to a life of humble service to Jesus Christ, her family, and her community. She married the love of her life, Morris Biggers, on June 27, 1959, and was his faithful companion. She worked as a seamstress as well as in textile and manufacturing, yet still made time to cook, clean, and maintain a home while raising her three children. As an expert seamstress, she designed many clothes for her family as well as custom draperies. She also camped regularly with her children and husband, and accomplished his dream of visiting all 50 states by camping in all but Hawaii. She loved planning trips with her road atlas. She served in her community by preparing and delivering countless meals, and no church homecoming was complete until she arrived with a full cooler of food. She found great joy in spending time with her family, and considered her children and grandchildren her greatest legacy. She instilled a deep abiding faith in Jesus to all, not by loud words, but rather by quiet whispers that those closest to her knew were constant prayers.

In addition to her parents, Sybil was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Ned Biggers, and her brothers, Lawson Abernathy, Davis Abernathy, Howard Abernathy, and James “Jigs” Abernathy.

She is survived by her husband, Morris Biggers; son, David Biggers; daughter Joan Lee (David); brother, Sidney Abernathy (Ovaline); grandchildren, Jodi Robertson (Brett), Trey Ivey (Lauren), and Marissa Toney (DT) as well as 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Friendship Health & Rehab for the genuine love and professional care provided to our wife, mother, and grandmother for the past seven months.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 10, 2026, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Zion Interdenominational Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service.
