Terry Lee Harris of Sautee, GA, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Terry was born April 9, 1946, in College Park, GA, to the late Lat Earl Lyon of Sautee, GA, and Geneva Sims Elwell of Helen, GA. Survivors include his wife, Donna Harris; Terry’s son, Ashley H. Harris (Haley); his grandchildren, Jackson H. Harris and Audie Lee Harris; mother, Geneva Elwell; sisters, Dawn Hill (John), Benjalyn Dudek (Charlie), Deborah Harris; and his brother, Sims Harris (Pamela); and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Terry is also survived by stepsons, Ronald Glenn Leslie, Donald Chase Leslie (Lamiya), Joseph S. Leslie (Sabrina), Andrew M. Leslie (Ruthie); stepdaughter, Susan Leslie Yaple (Fred); and grandchildren, Elizabeth Heidrick, Zachary Glenn, Victoria Dion, Khadra Dial, Adam Chase, Sophiya Chase, Christina Bolin, Calen Pittman, Cody Pittman, Camry Chambers, Asher Leslie, Vienna Leslie, and Philip J. Leslie.
Terry was a graduate of Butler High School, Augusta, GA, and Brenau College, Gainesville, GA. He loved Helen, GA, and moved to the area immediately after high school graduation. He was an Army combat veteran who served in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969. Terry returned home from service to our country and held a variety of jobs until he started employment with the White County Farm Bureau. He worked for almost 30 years with the Farm Bureau as a well-respected insurance agent. Terry always felt that his work there was important to the community, and he took great pride in helping people as much as possible.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to garden, ride horses, hunt, fish, and travel on outdoor-related adventures, far and near. Terry’s real passion was beekeeping, which he did in one form or another for most of his adult life.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Chattahoochee Christian Church, Robertstown, GA. The Reverend Chris Anderson will officiate.
