Thurman W. (T.W.) Cagle

February 27, 1941 — January 20, 2010

Thurman W. (T.W.) Cagle, of Cleveland, lost his battle with cancer and died at his home on January 20, 2010. Mr. Cagle was born in 1941 at Lula, Hall County, GA; he spent his formative early years there on the family farm. Mr. Cagle’s parents, Arbie and Lucy, moved the family to LaGrange in 1950, where both found employment at Dixie Mill. Shortly after graduating from LaGrange High in 1959, Mr. Cagle enlisted in the Navy, serving as sonarman, responsible for tracking Soviet submarine movement during the cold war. After Navy service Mr. Cagle worked for several years for the city of Los Angeles, CA, living in the San Fernando Valley where both his children were born. He returned to LaGrange in 1969 with his young family and began a career with Milliken, first in computer operations and, lastly, as manager of Engineering Services at Carpet Service Center. Mr. Cagle had a lifelong love for reading, family history, and was an avid hunter and bass fisherman (though, like most, he’d reel-in anything he snagged. Attracted back to North Georgia by its hills, hollows, streams and memories from his youth, Mr. Cagle enjoyed living in Cleveland, GA with his wife Terrie Reeves Cagle for the past 14 years. Terrie was, indeed, the light of his life, rarely leaving his side during his final days and hours. Also surviving Mr. Cagle are son Alan Cagle and family of LaGrange, daughter, Vicki Bridges and family of Pine Mountain Valley, stepdaughter Nikki Deason and family of Savannah, sister Myra Gregory of Lagrange, and brother Ron Cagle of Wilmington, NC. The funeral will be held at 11:30 o’clock on Saturday January 23, 2010 in the Chapel at Barrett Funeral Home in Cleveland. The Rev, Joey Pritchett will officiate. Interment will follow in the graveyard at Whitehall Baptist Church, Lula, GA, ancestral Church of the Cagle family. Prior to the service the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9-11 AM. Online condolences may be made to the family at barrettfh.com. Barrett Funeral Home of Cleveland.
