Tommy Lee Ramey

February 10, 1964 — July 15, 2025

Tommy Lee Ramey passed away peacefully Tuesday night, July 15 surrounded by his family. For the last 10 months, Tommy has fought a hard battle with esophagus cancer, finding his healing in Heaven, where he will be cancer free. He was born on February 10, 1964, to the late Thomas Ramey and Eufah Kanady Allen. Tommy was also preceded in death by son, Kyle Fortner, and stepdad, Almer (Buddy) Allen. Tommy’s entire life was spent on the family farm on Shoal Creek where he lived and worked and developed a love for gardening. He loved tending to the land and was always proud of his blueberries each year. From pears to preserves to fresh collard greens, (his “dish” for family gatherings), Tommy was always ready to share. Tommy was a skilled craftsman in construction. His construction fingerprints have been left all over Northeast Georgia. Those left behind missing Tommy the most are his wife, Tanya Ramey, his children, Joe Williams (Brittany) and Veronnica Williams; grandchildren, Lilly Williams, Shaun Williams, Nevaeh Williams, and Charlotte Williams. Also left with a life of wonderful memories with their “baby brother” are his sisters, Brenda Winder, Sharon Licata, Cathy Gooch, Denise Minish (Billy), Becky Ferguson; brothers, Jerry Gooch (Melinda) and Mike Ramey (Cindy); brother-in-law, Troy Fortner (Diane); numerous nieces and nephews and other family members as well as his “granddogs”, Bear and Shiloh. Tommy was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. A memorial service honoring Tommy’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from The Chapel at Barrett Funeral Home with Chris Anderson officiating. A livestream of the service can be viewed at: https://youtube.com/live/D08o928Cils?feature=share The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home, prior to the memorial service. The family would like to thank all who were involved in Tommy’s care. We especially want to thank those who lifted Tommy and the family up in prayers both spiritually and physically. We praise God that we were able to see Tommy rededicate his life to the Lord.
