Valerie Kolkjen

Valerie Weathington Kolkjen, age 66, died peacefully at home on October 23, 2024, after a long, valiant, and heroic fight against metastatic breast cancer. She was born in Pitt County, Greenville, North Carolina, on February 24, 1958, to Frances Congleton and William A. Weathington, Jr. She graduated from East Carolina University and was a proud PIRATE! Valerie was a vibrant woman participating in many activities in the Skylake Community and local groups. She was president of Fine Gift Soaps, a company she and her husband owned. Before moving to Skylake they resided in Sandy Springs, Georgia, and she was employed by the Leasing Equipment Division of General Electric. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Kenneth Charles Kolkjen; her mother, Frances Congleton; son, Andrew Cass Kolkjen; brothers, Allen (Linda) Weathington, Ev Congleton, Glenn Weathington; sisters, Billie (Carl) DeVaney and Carla Crumpler. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on November 10, 2024, the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection – 1755 Duncan Bridge Road, Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia 30571. The Rev.
