Mrs. Virgie Inez Meaders Black, age 94 of Cleveland, entered into rest on Tuesday November 5, 2013. Mrs. Black was a native and lifelong resident of Cleveland, Georgia. The daughter of Cleater James and Lillie Glover Meaders, she was the last survivor of a family of ten brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death by her husband Mark Black. Mrs. Black was a secretary, bookkeeper, and a substitute teacher. She was also a member of Cleveland United Methodist Church, where she served on many different committees. Virgie was a charter member of the Mount Yonah Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Woodman of the World. She loved and valued her church, community, and organizations. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Hendrix; grandson, Lance Hendrix and his wife Stewart; granddaughter, Natasha Hendrix; step great-grandson, Grayson Pratt; as well as loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 10am in the chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Black will officiate. Interment will follow at Gateway Memory Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8pm, at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of Friendship Health and Rehab.
