Beyond her career, she was a woman whose true joy came from the people she loved.

Virginia will be remembered as selfless, caring, and deeply devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren, who meant the world to her. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, whether it was a day spent shopping, watching her favorite shows, or simply being surrounded by those she loved most. Her gentle spirit and steady presence brought comfort to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Hollingsworth (Mickey) of Clermont, and Jennifer Underwood of Clermont; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Underwood; her step-children, Beth Neville, Theresa Vaughn, Timothy Jacobs, and Jonathan Ridpath; her cherished grandchildren, Hunter Barnell, Karoline McWhorter, Madison Estevez, Kyle Underwood, Michael VanPool, and Jaxson VanPool; as well as several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Veleta Davis, friend of the family, Bruce Ross, and her former husband and friend, Perry Underwood.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Jacobs; her parents, Hoyt and Irene Palmer; and her son, Keith Underwood.

A visitation will be held at Barrett Funeral Home in Cleveland, Georgia, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Graveside service to follow.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Heidi and the team at Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Virginia during her final days.
