Walter Lee Sills

Walter Lee Sills, age 84 of Cleveland, passed away Friday, December 30, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Sills was born February 14, 1927 in New Hebron, MS to the late Robert and Mae Newsom Sills. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and a member of Skitts Mountain Baptist Church for 54 years where he served as the church clerk and a Sunday school teacher. Mr. Sills was preceded in death by his brothers, Wallace Sills and James Sills; sisters: Patsy Himel, Maggie Holmes, Kay Hartman, Wilma Tyrone and Delma Simmons. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Sills, Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Libbye Sills; Doug and Kelley Sills; granddaughter and spouse, Kristen and Glen Gosnell; grandchildren, Daniel Sills, Dallas Sills, Sadie Jane Sills, all of Cleveland; sister and brother-in-law, Bert and Loyd McGee, Pearl, MS; sisters, Bobbie Jean Price, Natchez, MS; Eula Murphy, Spalding, NE; step-sisters, Clarice Crosby, Jackson, MS; Nell Wallace, Magee, MS. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, January 2, 2012 from Skitts Mountain Baptist Church. The Rev. Kyle Savage and the Rev. Phillip Robinson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mr. Sills will lie in state 30 minutes at the Church prior to the service on Monday.
