William Paul Allen

Mr. William Paul Allen, age 83, of Sautee, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Allen was born on October 20, 1924 in Habersham County to the late Alonzo an Addie Simmons Allen. He was preceded in death by his brothers Sherman Allen and John Ed Allen, sister, Irene Allen Lovell. He was a veteran of WWII serving in United States Marine Corps. Mr. Allen was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the Georgia Forestry Commission, and he was a master carpenter. He was a member of Old Nacoochee Baptist Church and was a lifelong resident of White County, Sautee Valley. Survivors include brother and sister-in-law Rev. Clifford & Martha Peck Allen, Murrayville; sisters and brother-in-laws, Minnie Lou and Rev. George Sexton, Marietta, Susie & Clarence Holman, Gainesville, Francine & Hugh Garrison, Cornelia; sister, Jenny Merritt, Sautee; sister in-laws, Martha Ann Ansley Allen, Mt. Airy, Laverne London Allen Berrong, Cleveland; brother in law, W.L. Lovell, Clarkesville; 7 Nephews and 10 nieces. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday August 16, 2008 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Clyde Garrison and Dr. Joe Vernon will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Nacoochee Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors by the White County Honor Guard.
