William "Bill" Smith

William “Bill” Smith, age 88 of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Smith was born in Gainesville, Ga the son of the late Melvin Young and Cora West Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Gresham Smith, brothers, Lee Smith, Paul Smith, Hoyt Smith, Charles Smith, and Jack Smith, sisters, Jimmie Nell Cole, Helen Smith and Mildred Hood. Mr. Smith was a U.S. Veteran serving in the Air Force. Survivors include his sister-in-law, Vivian Smith; a number of nieces, nephews and step daughters. The family would like to thank his caregivers, Diane Woody and Norma Webb. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday August 30, 2016 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Joey Pritchett and the Rev. Dennis Turner will officiate. Interment will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
