William Garrett, Jr.

William “Bill” “Sonny” S. Garrett, Jr., age 86, of Cleveland, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Bill was born on October 20, 1939, in Cordele, Georgia, to the late William S. Garrett, Sr. and Nancy Hazel Crumley Garrett. He was a civil engineer and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Garrett attended the Gospel Assembly Church in Jasper, Georgia. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, Gloria Oglesby and John Garrett.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Garrett; children, Christy Garrett Crumbley, Sonya Garrett Hoopaugh (Perry), and Billy Garrett (Alison); grandchildren, Dustin Garrett, Zachary Hoopaugh, Danielle Hoopaugh, Matt Crumbley (Lindsey), Katie Dant (Chris), Briley Garrett, Braden Garrett; great-grandchildren, Calvin Crumbley, Lucy Crumbley, Evan Crumbley, Josiah Dant; siblings, Pat Garrett (Brenda), James Garrett, Ruth Yancey (David), June Widener (Llewellyn), Mary Helen Koostra, Shelby Garrett, Shirley Sego; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 20, 2026, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Yancey officiating. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery at a later date with Pastor J.T. Padgett officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service.
