William Owenby

William Windell Owenby, age 83, of Cleveland, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 15, 2024. Mr. Owenby was born on September 26, 1941, in Habersham, Georgia, to the late Fred and Cordie Rogers Owenby. He worked at New Holland Mill and Chicopee and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Cornelia. William enjoyed playing the guitar and hunting with his grandsons. He did everything to the best of his ability and loved his wife and family more than life itself. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his son, Brad Owenby; and sister, Donna Wingo. Survivors include his wife of more than 60 years, Mary Jane Owenby; sons, William “Ted” Owenby (Teresa) and Mitchell Owenby; siblings, Johnny Owenby and Pearline Vogh (Warren); 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 19, 2024, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Shannon Irvin and the Rev. Donald Grizzle will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
