Beverly Darnell Allen, beloved to all was born on May 22nd, 1949. She gained to eternal rest on October, 9, 2024 following an extended illness. She was born the oldest child of the late William Bernard and Willa Nell Tate. She was a radiant presence for her warmth, laughter, and incredible culinary talents. She had a passion for cooking that was matched only by her love for family and friends. Her kitchen was a sanctuary filled with the aroma of her signature dishes, a perfectly crafted southern potato salad to her unmatched, well seasoned Thanksgiving dressing. Each recipe was a labor of love, often shared with laughter and memories that brought everyone closer together as a family. A faithful member of Travis Chapel UMC Church, where she served as an usher, greeting everyone with her warm smile and welcoming spirit. Her commitment to Travis Chapel reflected her family roots, deep faith and sheer joy she found in connecting with our Oak Springs Community, especially her sisters in service, Annie and Henrietta Sutton. Affectionately called, Cabbage by family and friends, she never met a stranger. Beverly never turned down an opportunity to celebrate life in her carefree way. Most remembered are her unforgettable house parties. Her gatherings were legendary—filled with joy, impeccable music of the O’jays & Isleys and more, and, of course, mouthwatering food that left everyone eagerly anticipating the next invite. She created an atmosphere where everyone felt at home, and her sweet spirit brought people together in fellowship. Her open door always welcomed family. She loved the company of her nieces and nephews at all times, with big, warm hugs and solid advice. Aunt Bell didn’t accept any mess and would let you know if you needed correction. We sought Aunt Bell’s wisdom and prompting lessons. In turn, She taught us love because she was love, honest and real. Our beloved, Beverly joins in eternal peace, her parents, beloved son Kevin C. Allen, sisters, Brenda Nicely and Sharon Levit, brother Billy Tate, devoted aunt, Maudell Singleton, daughter in love, Cheryl Helton and grandsons, Starguar Cochran and Austin Helton. She leaves to mourn her two baby sisters, Gwendolyn Tate and DeNeene Scott, aunts, Maryetta Jackson and Evelyn Turner, six nieces and twelve nephews. A host of devoted lifelong friends to include Greg & Emma Allen, Candice Dyer and Barbara Jane Trammell. Countless cousins, family, and friends will forever cherish fond memories of her.
